Faye Adams is a freelance writer who has published four books of poetry, a children's book and two books of poetry and nonfiction. She also writes fiction, flash fiction and memoirs.
She has published work in newspapers and magazines, such as IDEALS and The Ozarks Mountaineer.
She has won many awards for both poetry and prose.
Faye co-edited the 7th annual anthology of poetry and nonfiction Facets of Love, published by the De Soto chapter of Missouri State Poetry Society. She is currently working with a publisher, elizaPress, to publish her inspirational book of poetry and nonfiction, Breath of Heaven. The publisher hopes to have the book out by March, 2010. Her second children‚s book in the Chester series will be a chapter book, and is currently with the illustrator. Faye will soon be compiling her next book of fiction, nonfiction and poetry, Learning to Spit. She has been asked to ghost-write a true-crime novel for Park Hills Detective, Mike Kurtz. In 2009, she edited a book of patriotic poetry for The Inner Patriot. A second Inspirational book is sitting on the back burner, as a part of future plans.
Faye has helped conduct poetry workshops in classrooms and for writers groups. She is the Contest Coordinator for the MSPS Poetry Chapter, On the Edge and serves as a Chapter Representative to the Missouri State Poetry Society. Faye serves on the Board of Directors, as Contest Committee Chariman, and as the Missouri Writers' Guild representative for the St. Louis Writers Guild. In the past, she has served Writers' Society of Jefferson County as Secretary (2006) and Poetry Moderator (2005 & 2006).
Faye has won several awards for poetry, fiction and nonfiction and has published in newspapers, magazines, poetry journals and anthologies. She and her husband, Billy Adams, were awarded honorary lifetime memberships in Missouri State Poetry Society. Faye was one of two Featured Poets at the annual LUCIDITY Poetry Retreat in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, in April, 2009, where she gave a reading of her work before an audience of fellow poets from throughout the United States. She participates in the St. Louis Writers‚ Guild Wired Coffee Open Mic, where she reads on the second Tuesday evening of each month. She coordinates the Big Write contest for kids, administered by SLWG. A feature of the annual St. Louis Literary event, the Big Read, this contest garnered 648 entries in the 2009 contest. The 2010 contest opens in February and is open to students who will be in the 4th through 8th grades in the fall of 2010. Faye and her husband, Bill, are available to do writing workshops for students who wish to enter. Prizes are $100, $50 and $25 in two categories: Category One 4th & 5th Grades. Category Two 6th through 8th Grades.
